Meet Fr Alan Wierzba
Biography:
Fr. Alan was born on February 23, 1965 in Wausau, the fifth of six kids, born to Nancy and Eugene. He grew up in the town of Weston, attending St. Agnes Parish and graduating from D.C. Everest High School in 1983. After graduation he worked in retail management with Radio Shack for three years, then he began working for several glass factories in the Wausau area, including Custom Glass and Kolbe and Kolbe Millwork. Father Alan entered seminary when he was 29 years old, in the fall of 1994, attending St. John Vianney Seminary, on the campus of St. Thomas University for three years for Philosophy studies. He then spent three years of summer studies in spirituality at Creighton University while studying Theology at Mundelein Seminary. He was ordained to the priesthood on June 30, 2001 at the Cathedral of the Diocese of La Crosse by Bishop (now Cardinal) Raymond Burke.
Fr. Wierzba’s assignments include parishes in Durand, Mondovi and Lima; Gays Mills and Rolling Ground; Wisconsin Rapids and the UW-La Crosse. In 2012 Father was named the Director of the Office of Vocations for the Diocese of La Crosse, where he served until 2020, and began his assignment at Holy Family and St. John’s parishes.
